The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipal Assembly, recently received a substantial enhancement to its poultry sector. As part of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s initiative to promote local poultry production, 10,000 broilers were delivered to the Assembly in December. The broilers were maintained and cared for by the assembly for four weeks, in accordance with the President’s directive.
On March 30, 2026, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ismail Zagoon-Saeed, and the Municipal Agriculture Director, Madam Victoria Abankwa, distributed the healthy broilers to 200 poultry farmers within the municipality.
The MCE advised farmers to ensure proper care for the broilers and, upon reaching maturity, to sell them and reinvest the proceeds in layers to sustain the initiative. Madam Victoria Abankwa also urged farmers to provide adequate feed and ensure the safety of the birds, while warning of forthcoming monitoring and inspections.
