The Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipal Assembly (KEEAMA) has held it 2018 Town Hall Meeting with the people in the Municipality. The meeting saw the assembly giving report about the state of affairs in the Municipal Assembly, Speaking at the program the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Daniel Osei-Asibey urged the stakeholders to participate fully in the Town Hall Meetings, since it provides the opportunity for the people in the Municipality to make inputs into various policies and programmes of the government in the assembly level.
According to him, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assembly (MMDAs) always resort to Town Hall Meetings to involve the people in the local governance, especially in key areas such as fee-fixing resolution, budget preparation, medium term development plans and execution of plans. “Town Hall Meetings also enable policy makers, businesses, civil society organizations and the citizenry engage each other and dialogue on how to work together to achieve the desired goals” MCD noted. he further stated the meetings help to promote social accountability and improve transparency and public access to information and thus called on the people gathered to contribute effectively to make the programme more participatory and lively to enable the assembly achieve the desired goals.
“It is also expected that those programmes at the long last would lead to quality service delivery at MMDAs in particular and at the national level” he added.
He expressed appreciation to government for strengthening decentralization, adding that the process has created an enabling environment, using the assembly structure to empower local communities and the general public to be part of decision making process at all level of governance.
