Mr. Ishmail Zagoon-Saeed, Chief Executive of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipal Assembly, says his vision is to ensure that the municipality takes its rightful place, in terms of quality education.
He said excellence edification is the greatest asset every nation can bequeath its future leaders, and, therefore, pledged that he will do everything within his power to raise the standard of education in the Municipality.  Mr. Zagoon, who made this intention, among others, known in an interview with The Chronicle in Elmina, stated that it is only through quality education that the gap between the rich and the poor in society can be bridged.

In view of this, he said, the assembly will constitute an endowment fund to support brilliant but needy pupils who will excel in their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), and appealed to all pupils preparing for the exams in the Municipality to be motivated and give off their best.   “My utmost priority is to see to it that our children eschew all forms of menial jobs on the streets and go to school, and this must not end at the Basic level,” he emphasised.

He added: “Those who will do well at the BECE level will be pushed to the SHS, and those who will excel in the WASSCE will also be supported to continue to the Tertiary.”  He bemoaned the situation whereby the region is blessed with some of the best pre-tertiary and tertiary institutions such as universities, polytechnics and other important schools, but the indigenes can’t gain admission due to poor performance, or their inability to meet entry requirements.

He, therefore, appealed to parents to, as a matter of urgency, send their wards to school, and also provide them with their needs to help curb the menace of school dropouts in the Municipality.   The MCE said the government was doing its uttermost to ease congestion in the various schools with the improvement of infrastructure and the construction of new schools to improve the standard of education in the country.
Mr. Saeed said he felts honoured to have been given the opportunity to serve his people in the capacity as the Chief Executive.

He used the occasion to thank President John Dramani Mahama, the KEEA constituency executives, assembly members and all for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged to work hard to continue to deserve their trust. He added that he would operate an open door policy that would afford everyone the opportunity to approach him with their concerns to promote unity and tranquility in the Municipality. Mr. Ismail Zagoon-Saeed was approved by the members of the KEEA Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, April 5, after he had been nominated by the President.
