quality of life of persons of reproductive age and beyond as well as children by providing high quality reproductive and child health services through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preventive<\/li>\n<li>Curative`<\/li>\n<li>Promotional<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitative services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>OBJECTIVES OF RCH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The RCH seeks to contribute to improvement in the health of all children, adolescents and men and women of reproductive age by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>providing access to accurate education and information on general reproductive and child health care<\/li>\n<li>providing access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of family planning;<\/li>\n<li>providing access to appropriate health-care services that will enable women to go safely through pregnancy and childbirth and provide couples with the best chance of having a healthy infant;<\/li>\n<li>providing access to appropriate services that promote the survival, growth and development of all children and<\/li>\n<li>Providing access to health information and health services relevant to the age and gender specific needs of adolescents and young people to enable them make informed decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF RCH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The main objective is to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provision of accessible maternal health services (ANC, Delivery and PNC)<\/li>\n<li>Health education on nutrition, family planning, STI prevention including HIV\/AIDS, and danger signs of pregnancy to women especially pregnant women.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening Adolescent Friendly Initiative In All Facilities\/Institutions<\/li>\n<li>Improvement in quality, convenience and coverage of <u>family planning <\/u>services<\/li>\n<li>Provision of family planning services<\/li>\n<li>Support clients to develop birth preparedness and complication readiness plan<\/li>\n<li>Detect and treat all complications arising in pregnancy.<\/li>\n<li>Provide integrated services at child welfare clinics<\/li>\n<li>Improvement in DHIMS data through data verification and validation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>RCH INTERVENTIONS IN THE MUNICIPALITY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The following are the general RCH services in the KEEA municipality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>COMPONENTS OF CHILD HEALTH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>NEWBORN CARE SERVICES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Neonatal resuscitation<\/li>\n<li>Breastfeeding<\/li>\n<li>Postnatal care services<\/li>\n<li>Infection prevention and control<\/li>\n<li>Kangaroo Mother Care<\/li>\n<li>Birth registration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>CHILD WELFARE SERVICES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promotion of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and timely introduction of complementary feeding<\/li>\n<li>Immunization<\/li>\n<li>Growth promotion and nutrition rehabilitation<\/li>\n<li>Curative care for minor ailments and injuries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Screening and examination of school children and food vendors<\/li>\n<li>Immunization<\/li>\n<li>Health education on current public health issues<\/li>\n<li>Management of minor ailments and injuries<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance of hygienic and safe school environment<\/li>\n<li>Referrals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>ADOLESCENT HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification and management of common health problems affecting adolescents<\/li>\n<li>Provision of adolescent focused services including counseling, information education and counseling (IE&amp;C and reproductive health issues in general<\/li>\n<li>Referrals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>THE COMPONENTS OF SAFE MOTHERHOOD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Focused Ante-Natal integrated service<\/li>\n<li>Labour and delivery care<\/li>\n<li>Postnatal care<\/li>\n<li>Family planning<\/li>\n<li>Prevention and management of unsafe abortion<\/li>\n<li>Health education<\/li>\n<li>Prevention of Mother-to- Child Transmission of HIV\/AIDS.<\/li>\n<li>Maternal &amp; Neonatal Audit follow \u2013up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, as a municipality specific interventions such as the following has been implemented to improve on reproductive and child health outcomes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monthly Family Planning Campaigns to boost acceptor rates<\/li>\n<li>Weekly supportive supervisory visit by district officers to the facilities<\/li>\n<li>Maternal and perinatal Death Audit<\/li>\n<li>Establishment of pregnancy schools in sub-district facilities<\/li>\n<li>Free simple medical screening \u201cknow your status\u201d to increase HIV testing rate<\/li>\n<li>Improve team work at ART sites.
